The Cloud Readiness Roadmap

A checklist for organisations weighing a move to Azure, before you commission a migration. Twenty questions across the five decisions that set whether the move is ready: workloads, data residency, dependencies, licensing, and the order to move in. Answer for the estate you actually run. A workload no one owns counts as not ready.

  • The workload inventory question the migration quote skips: which applications are cloud-ready as they are, which need reworking first, and which should be retired rather than moved.
  • The data-residency section: where GDPR Article 44 and any sector rules require your data to stay, and which Azure region (for example Germany West Central) that points to before you design anything.
  • The dependency map that decides the order: which systems have to move together, and which single legacy dependency blocks the rest.
  • The licensing check: what Azure Hybrid Benefit and your existing Enterprise Agreement already cover, so the business case starts from your real entitlements, not list price.
  • A scoring guide that turns your answers into a first-wave shortlist: the one workload to move first, and whether you are ready to scope the migration or need the strategy read first.

Common questions

Who is this for?

Organisations still mostly on-premises, or early into Azure, deciding whether and how to move. If your estate is already on Azure and you want it scored, the Azure Well-Architected Self-Check fits better.

What happens after I submit the form?

The checklist downloads immediately. No call gets scheduled automatically. If you want the answers turned into a costed business case and a sequenced roadmap, the Cloud Strategy Review is the next step, not a requirement.

Do we need cloud experience to fill it in?

No. The questions are about your current estate and your constraints, not about Azure. Where a question needs a platform decision, the checklist says which way the answer points.

How does this relate to the Cloud Strategy Review?

The checklist is the self-service version of the first day of the review. It tells you whether you are ready to move and roughly in what order. The Cloud Strategy Review does the costed business case, the target-platform decision, and the detailed first wave.
